Biological Diversity Day

Biodiversity is the source of essential goods and ecological services on which all life depends. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed May 22 as The International Day for Biological Diversity (IBD) to increase the understanding and awareness of biodiversity-related issues. The day creates an opportunity to partake in activities that help educate, publicise, and emphasise the importance of biodiversity to human well-being. The UN Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity has prepared educational material for download such as videos, booklets, posters, and fact sheets, and published a summary of celebrations and activities around the world in recognition of this day.
